John's Birthday Card

This is the birthday card I made for John - he requested that it feature Indiana Jones The Magnificat (his cat), a badger and a fox. At the beach.

I had to come up with a scenario to explain this combination of characters and then render it in 2D.

The scenario goes like this: Indiana Jones (part cat part Lego) is looking for the Holy Grail as is his occasional wont. He suspects that the badger knows something about it because he is reading an old-looking book, the sort that looks like it might have maps in it (Indiana is an unsophisticated thinker). In fact, the badger just likes a good read. Especially books with silly punny titles.
Look who really has the grail! Boh.

Wol

Picklemas

Picklemas is an invented festival held approximately three months before Christmas, dedicated to preserving seasonal produce. And lemons this year.

What is a clough?

I love getting postcards from my mum

"...Walked from Abereiddy to Penberri and back via Tretio. Watched seals and their pups; some of the pups swimming the calm waters as their parents swam watchfully near by..."

Adlestrop

Yes. I remember Adlestrop -
The name, because one afternoon
Of heat the express-train drew up there
Unwontedly. It was late June.

The steam hissed. Someone cleared his throat.
No one left and no one came
On the bare platform. What I saw
Was Adlestrop - only the name

And willows, willow-herb, and grass
And meadowsweet, and haycocks dry,
No whit less still and lonely fair
Than the high cloudlets in the sky.

And for that minute a blackbird sang
Close by, and round him, mistier,
Farther and farther, all the birds
Of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.
